Strapping

Strapping: A Secure Tool For Sealing Everything You Need

Strapping is the process of applying a strap to an item to combine, stabilize, hold, reinforce, or fasten it. Strapping materials are used primarily for bundling products together and securing pallet loads during transport and storage. When used for palletizing, it is often complemented with the additional security of stretch wrap.

Strapping materials come in a variety of options with three primary categories:

  • Polypropylene(PP)
  • Polyester(PET)
  • Steel

Polypropylene (PP) strapping is one of the most common types of strapping and comes in a variety of tensile strengths, widths, and core sizes depending on your application.

Polyester (PET) strapping is smooth in texture, and is created from recycled materials. Available as heavy duty polyester offering high tensile strength or polyester corded strapping, which is easily tied by hand with a wire buckle.

Steel strapping which is strong and durable enough to withstand heavy loads and harsh conditions. Steel strapping can be applied using manual tools such as tensioners, sealers, and cutters or with automated machinery for larger operations.

When selecting a type of strapping for an application, it’s important to consider factors such as the size of the item being strapped, the weight of the load, environmental conditions (such as temperature), cost-effectiveness and safety requirements.
