Solar Flux

Solar Flux

Solar Flux is a complex chemical compound that when mixed with alcohol forms a formulation that is useful in cleaning the surface of a metal, protecting the back of the weld joint from oxygen and dissipating heat and unwanted oxides. It is available in a fine powder form.

Solar Flux is of two types: Type B and Type I.

Type B Solar Flux is ideal for welding metals like stainless steel and alloy steels. Whereas, Type I Solar Flux is used for welding high nickel superalloys.

Use of Solar Flux

Some of the common applications for Solar Flux are:

  • Pipe and tube welding (except when any thin, glass-like residue needs to be removed)
  • Maintenance welding
  • In-field welding
  • Custom welds
  • Unusual shapes and configurations
  • Large diameter pipes and ducts
  • Aircraft airframe and jet engine repairs
